An Honorable German: A World War Two novel by Charles McCain. The above is a photo of the greatly feared German dive bomber, the Stuka. It was amazingly accurate but very slow—about 230 mph. The fixed undercarriage reduced speed and maneuverability and the aircraft was obsolete by the time World War Two broke out. The Stuka pilots were wildly overconfident after their outstanding performance in Poland and France. However, when they began the daylight bombing of Great Britain in mid-August 1940, RAF Spitfires and Hawker Hurricanes knocked them out of the sky. They were all transferred to the east for the invasion of the Soviet Union and spent the rest of the war there primarily working in an anti-tank role. The Stuka had an air siren on each wheel which made a frightening noise when they went into a dive. That classic sound you hear in the movies of planes diving or even appearing is actually the noise made by the Stuka.

Harry Bosch is a police detective in the Hollywood division of LA. He’s an Viet Nam
vet and this story is about a fellow "tunnel rat" who is found dead in a cement pipe.

Keeps a good pace and there’s a little twist at the end. If you like murder mysteries, you’ll probably like this one.

The Shoes of the Fisherman is a 1963 novel by the Australian author Morris West, as well as a 1968 film based on the novel.
Set in a futuristic vision of the late 1980’s, Ukrainian Archbishop Kiril Lakota (Anthony Quinn) is set free after two decades as a political prisoner in Siberia. He is brought to Rome by Fr. David Telemond, a troubled young priest who befriends him. Once at the Vatican, he is immediately given an audience with the Pope, who elevates him to Cardinal Priest. The world is on the brink of war, when the Pontiff suddenly dies, Lakota’s genuine character and unique life experience move the College of Cardinals to elect him as the new Pope. But Pope Kiril I must now deal with his own self-doubt, and find a solution to the crisis.The footage showing the arrival of the Cardinals and the crowds gathering in St. Peter’s Square is taken from news reels and other archive films that documented the events between the death of Pope John XXIII and the election of Pope Paul VI in 1963.
Reference is made to Kiril being the first non-Italian pope to be elected since Adrian VI 400 years earlier. In real life, this happened 10 years after this film was released with the election of Pope John Paul II.
