"ok...ok, ask me your questions. i'll answer some of them," ariel said once more.
aiden waited a little for jake to speak up. however, there was no noise coming from his right, which made him more anxious as time passed.
jake was the one who was supposed to do the talking, so why wasn't he doing it anymore?
"oh!" ariel smirked. "if you're waiting for your friend, jake, to speak up, you'll have to wait for a long time. it's just you and me now."
as she uttered those words, her scent entered aiden's nose. it made the feeling of danger even stronger. he could feel himself close to faltering the more time he spent inside this place.
'i need to be strong. i need to be strong...'
aiden did his very best to cheer himself on. however, it was hard for him...very hard.
"actually, before you ask your first question. you'll have to look at me in the eyes. and this time, i really won't be using my powers on you. it...uh...wouldn't be fun. i like talking with someone like you...you're different from the rest of them."
aiden didn't know why, but those words made him smile. also, it wasn't the first time he had heard those words describing himself. the last time he had heard, they were from emma...right after they had met one another.
'maybe it's a sign. they're both saying the same thing. well, the only difference is that she can do whatever she wants with me.'
aiden quickly debated whether to open his eyes or not, and he honestly couldn't take that risk. he had already received a lot of information by coming here, and he was satisfied with what he had gotten.
if it really came to it, he would prefer leaving this place without seeing ariel ever again. well, that is until he became strong enough to deal with her himself.
'is he really an anomaly? were the rest of them, right?' she thought as she took a few steps back, looking at aiden as a whole. 'but, it's weird. he doesn't even look powerful. he looks weak...so terribly weak.'
ariel was obviously comparing himself to herself, and she couldn't help but notice the huge difference in power between them. so, why was aiden able to resist her advances, especially when she was using physical contact.
'it shouldn't be possible. he should be crumbling under me, begging me to let him go.'
ariel thought about it, but she finally found out why this was happening.
aiden was different from the rest of the men she had come across. however, that was only the beginning, as there was one thing that made him this much more valuable compared to anyone else.
she didn't know why, but he had a much stronger will than anyone she had come across in her entire existence, and who knows just how old she was...
*beep!*
the usual beeping resounded in his mind. he knew what that meant...he had gotten something from the system. it was probably a skill or something along those lines.
'still, i can't look right now.'
"you want to look at me?"
"ah...right, you can read my mind. well, whatever. will you let me go?" aiden finally asked as she looked at her right in the eyes.
ariel didn't say anything just yet as she eyed him from top to bottom.
'should i leave him the mark?' she thought, preparing himself to let him go.
however, she had just had one thing to do before letting him go. she would leave him the mark.
she got closer to him, her face now only a few centimeters away from aiden. she looked at aiden's naive face and closed her eyes.
