Chapter 1033 - 1032: Ah! What Happened? I Have No Idea
The hospital room fell silent. After a moment, Gu Anxi spoke softly, "I was talking to the janitor."
Outside the door, Chen Ming paused for a moment and then quieted down.
The room was silent too, with only the faint sound of Feng Sheng’s breathing.
Gu Anxi took a step forward, looking up at him.
Feng Sheng looked down, and his once warm eyes held no warmth as he spoke word by word, "I’m not willing."
Gu Anxi smiled faintly, a somewhat bitter smile, "If you’re not willing, wait until you’re better and can stand beside her again, then come back and let Sister Lin Hua choose again."
After she spoke, she took out a syringe from her pocket, raising it gently, "If you insist on making her choose now, I can wake her up, and I trust Lin Hua will choose you."
Feng Sheng’s chest heaved more violently as he stared at her intently, "What do you mean?"
"Weakling." Gu Anxi looked back at him, "Because she feels guilty, so she chooses you. Feng Sheng, are you sure that’s what you want? If you want, I can wake her up right now and then find a way to send you both away."
Feng Sheng’s fingers clenched into a fist, his face twisted to the extreme as he barely restrained himself from strangling the little girl in front of him.
Gu Anxi still looked up at him, watching him quietly.
He was lonely, like some kind of exotic beast.
She didn’t know what hardships he had gone through to return to this land, but it must have been very difficult.
Gu Anxi hugged Feng Sheng.
He froze, his body stiff, slowly turning his head down to look at her.
It had been a long time. A long time since he had felt such warmth, living warmth.
"Brother Feng." She murmured, "Have you thought about the Feng family? Even though King Jingyao is my older brother, I know if you take Lin Hua away, the Feng family will be finished."
Feng Sheng’s eyes, filled with red blood vessels, looked terrifying.
Gu Anxi continued, "He loves Sister Lin Hua. I’m not asking you to fulfill him, but to look after the Feng family and Sister Lin Hua."
Feng Sheng stretched out his stiff palm, gently placing it on the top of the little girl’s head.
He knew this little girl was formidable, and while she appeared soft and warm, showing she wasn’t afraid of him, he also knew she was formidable. Even injured, she could handle him within a minute without any effort, and Lin Hua, sleeping, would never know.
If she wished, there would be no more Feng Sheng in this world.
Thinking this, his heart felt like it was covered with countless needles, densely packed.
The pain on his body, the pain in his heart, offered no escape, and he raised his head, letting out a beast-like low growl.
He didn’t know how long had passed before he finally calmed down.
All around, quietness returned.
Gu Anxi watched Feng Sheng put on his mask and hat, pushing a small cart towards the outside.
She stood for a moment, then turned her head to softly say, "Take care."
Feng Sheng paused, his voice hoarse, "You’re right. Asking her to choose in my current state burdens her."
Gu Anxi said nothing, and Feng Sheng went out the door after finishing speaking.
Outside was Chen Ming.
When Chen Ming saw Feng Sheng, a flash of caution crossed his expression, but he quickly relaxed. Through the door crack, he saw Gu Anxi standing there, a look on her face he’d never seen before.
It looked like sadness.
Chen Ming’s clenched hand slowly relaxed, then he stepped aside a little.
In that moment, he understood everything.
And that person, pushing the little cart, slowly disappeared.
Chen Ming opened the door and went inside; Gu Anxi hadn’t yet wiped away her expression. She spoke softly, "Chen Ming, you saw it too."
Chen Ming nodded, "Yes."
Gu Anxi murmured, "He won’t appear anymore, at least not for now."
Chen Ming wanted to say something but hesitated.
Gu Anxi waved the syringe in her hand, snorting, "If you dare tell older brother, I’ll give you injections every day."
Chen Ming flinched slightly, "Girls shouldn’t always be about fighting and killing, it’s not good."
Gu Anxi lowered her hand, then looked at the sleeping Lin Hua, sighing softly.
Chen Ming approached her and said softly, "Don’t worry, I won’t tell Mr. Wang."
He looked at her, "You’re sure he won’t come back?"
"Not for now, maybe someday he will." Gu Anxi smiled a little.
Chen Ming let out a hissing sound, "What about then?"
"By then, Feng Sheng will be a different Feng Sheng, Sister Lin Hua’s child will be a few years old, and older brother will surely be a good husband and a good father. How could she bear to leave them?" Gu Anxi glanced at him, as if looking at a fool.
Chen Ming touched his nose, feeling deeply insulted.
This matter, even if it’s over, still needs some pretense.
At five in the afternoon, King Jingyao returned, choosing an empty ward to call Gu Anxi over.
Gu Anxi tapped on her laptop, then looked up, surprised, "He’s left Beicheng."
King Jingyao immediately stood up, "How could that be?"
He came over, leaning on the sofa’s armrest, staring at the screen as Gu Anxi explained, "He left on a high-speed train, hasn’t gone abroad yet, but hasn’t contacted the Feng family either."
At this moment, Secretary Wang began worrying about Feng Sheng’s livelihood issues. Gu Anxi chuckled: "Wasn’t it said he came from Special B? Besides, he’s Feng Sheng, a top lawyer, he won’t be without solutions."
Feng Sheng’s assets, at least billions.
King Jingyao lit a cigarette, burned for a while, then spoke hoarsely: "No matter what, he’s left."
He frowned again: "By the way, why did he leave? Suddenly figured it out?"
Chen Ming glanced at Gu Anxi. Old Wang caught that little look, glanced at him: "Why are you staring at Anxi? Isn’t this your expertise?"
Chen Ming coughed lightly: "She’s an emotional expert."
Gu Anxi nodded, accepted the title with a smile.
King Jingyao also agreed: "So young, full of cunning ideas."
He patted her little head, thought about it: "Still need you to help these few days, take your sister-in-law to stay with the old lady for a few days. She’s pregnant and got frightened, I’m not at ease leaving her home alone now."
Gu Anxi agreed cheerfully, "Alright. I’ll go to Uncle first, you go accompany Sister Lin Hua."
She left bouncingly, and King Jingyao slowly sat back on the sofa, smoking leisurely.
Secretary Wang coaxed him on the side: "This is great, things are pretty much resolved."
"Is it?" Old Wang smiled faintly, "Chen Ming, you don’t have anything to hide from me?"
Chen Ming’s heart skipped a beat, hurriedly said: "How is that possible? No, absolutely not."
King Jingyao glanced at him again, stood up: "Alright, whether you do or don’t, I’m not stripping you bare."
Wang Jingchuan looked puzzled: "Mr. Wang, what are you talking about? Chen Ming, what did you do?"
Chen Ming smiled wryly, "I didn’t do anything."
King Jingyao walked ahead, looking in high spirits: "Jingchuan, you pretend all you want, I don’t believe such a smart guy like you wouldn’t figure it out, just wait, I’ll peel your skin too alongside theirs."
Wang Jingchuan quickly followed with small steps, immediately pledging loyalty: "Sir, I truly don’t know."
Chen Ming also followed, heads down.
King Jingyao returned to the ward, Lin Hua’s mother was accompanying Lin Hua, and he called her "Mom" warmly upon entering.
Lin Hua’s mother was quite satisfied with him, since they got married, Jingyao had respected her greatly and was very considerate to Lin Hua.
Lin Hua’s mother stood up smiling: "She looks much better."
King Jingyao sat by the bed, reaching to touch Lin Hua’s face, gently asked: "Feeling any discomfort still?"
Lin Hua shook her head: "I’m fine, where’s Anxi?"
Old Wang chuckled: "That mischievous girl probably clinging to Xichen."
Lin Hua laughed: "Who curses themselves like that?"
Old Wang thought, then laughed too: "You’re quite the joker, that’s a good sign."
Then he rose, personally invited the mother-in-law to sit, poured a cup of water for Lin Hua, then spoke to Lin Hua’s mother: "I plan to let Lin Hua stay with the old lady for a few days, let that little rascal Anxi accompany for now, what do you think."
Lin Hua’s mother actually wished for her daughter to stay home, but she was considerate. Jingyao must have his reasons for such arrangements.
This sudden hospitalization due to fright was unusual, and while she’s thoughtful, the old lady’s place is stricter, which is perfect for Lin Hua to nurture her pregnancy. Besides, though the old lady is stern, Lin Hua is in her favor, and with Anxi, there won’t be any restrictions, so she smiled and nodded: "This is good."
She is, after all, a mother, her heart aches for her daughter.
Regarding Feng Sheng’s matter, someone deliberately leaked some information which she knew a bit about. This wasn’t something she could discuss with her daughter, besides her stance aligned with her son-in-law.
Lin Hua’s mother swallowed her thoughts.
This secret, unless necessary, would sink to the ocean floor.
Lin Hua’s spirits improved considerably, she smiled: "Actually, I’m alright."
"And you say you’re alright." Old Wang lightly coughed: "Look at just a couple of days, your complexion worsened quite a bit."
"You’re saying I look unattractive?" Lin Hua, slightly pampered and arrogant: "Then go find your Doctor Jiang."
"Little rascal." King Jingyao pinched her face, yet turned and spoke to Lin Hua’s mother: "See, since marrying me she’s become quite pampered, always bringing up the past, you better educate her well later."
Lin Hua’s mother laughed, feeling quite sentimental.
At the same time, she felt grateful to Anxi, this child isn’t easy.
While Old Wang dotingly pampered his wife without concern for others, Gu Anxi ran into Uncle Bo’s office, where he was conversing with Bo Nianyao about an experiment, taking a moment to glance at her.
Gu Anxi moved behind him, hugged his neck: "Uncle."
Bo Nianyao heard somewhat unclear, "Xichen, do you have someone there?"
Bo Xichen smiled: "It’s Anxi."
Bo Nianyao laughed: "I guessed, this child is clingy all day long."
He paused: "I’ll be back the night after tomorrow."
Bo Xichen nodded: "I’ve arranged for Lin Yuan to take over."
The two chatted for a while, Bo Xichen put down his phone, pulled back the person hugging him: "What did you do today?"
The little milk spirit jumped up: "Nothing."
"Oh?" Bo Xichen smiled: "What’s the matter with Feng Sheng? Wasn’t it you who let him go?"
Gu Anxi immediately started stammering: "Uh, uh, I don’t know, who is Feng Sheng? Did he come here?"
"Untruthful." He lightly patted her: "Your old brother must’ve figured it out too, don’t assume he’s clueless."
Gu Anxi pouted slightly, "Then he might as well sneak off to set off firecrackers, where does he have the time to deal with me."
