Chapter 297: I Seem to Have Gotten Stronger

Sunxiao immediately reverted to his beast form and carried Qiao Xixi in pursuit.

Qiao Xixi held the Lighting Device, searching in Xiya’s direction. Soon, she spotted a gigantic Mutated Octopus Beast clinging to the inside of a deep trench.

Xiya was gripped by one of its tentacles.

"Mother..."

The Mutated Octopus Beast moved with incredible speed. Even Sunxiao couldn’t catch up to it.

To Qiao Xixi’s surprise, the Mutated Octopus Beast suddenly darted into a crevice in the trench. Just as it was about to vanish, Sunxiao accelerated, whipping his long tail and striking hard against the tentacle the beast hadn’t retracted in time.

A loud CRACK echoed, shaking the rock walls of the trench.

Xiya broke free and swam quickly toward Qiao Xixi and Sunxiao.

"Xiya!"

Terrified, Qiao Xixi pulled her into a hug. ’This godsforsaken place is too dangerous! One moment of distraction and disaster strikes!’

Enraged, the Mutated Octopus Beast crawled out from the crevice. It shot its long tentacles at Sunxiao, instantly ensnaring his serpentine tail.

"Sunxiao, look out!"

Sunxiao’s serpentine eyes narrowed, and he opened his gaping maw to bite down on the tentacle.

The Mutated Octopus Beast reeled in pain, and its other tentacles shot toward him. In an instant, countless appendages enveloped his serpentine body.

Qiao Xixi’s eyes snapped open. A pair of invisible wings erupted from her back, shattering the tentacles coiled around her body.

Fully awake now, she lunged toward Xiya. Her hand became a claw, sharp as a blade, and she slashed through the tentacle, pulling Xiya into her embrace.

Having lost two tentacles in quick succession, the enraged Mutated Octopus Beast lashed out at her with even more.

But as the tentacles closed in, the invisible wings on her back beat rapidly. Wherever the wings struck the Mutated Octopus Beast, it was as if it were being sliced by a razor-sharp blade.

With one powerful downstroke of a wing, Qiao Xixi sliced the Mutated Octopus Beast’s head in two.

"I’m displaying the location for you on the map."

Qiao Xixi quickly opened the map in her mind to check.

’Judging by the location, it’s very close,’ she thought.

"That’s right. But this place is too strange, even I don’t fully understand it. You have to be careful, Host."

"Okay... but what was that just now? I felt like I suddenly became really strong."

Qiao Xixi didn’t press the issue. "What’s the situation with Sunxiao and Sangze?"

She held Xiya and pulled herself out of the crevice. She had barely caught her breath when she heard the system’s excited voice.

"Where?"

Qiao Xixi looked around. There was nothing but endless water in every direction. Where could any merfolk be?

"Above you."

Qiao Xixi raised the Lighting Device, and when she saw what was above them, she froze.
