Revelation of the Way of Heaven

Chapter 203 Past Events

Chapter 203 Past Events

The moon quietly peeked out from behind the dark clouds, its mercury-like light spilling onto the rooftop and illuminating his face.

The man stood on the roof of the Department of Spiritual Studies building and watched the two small figures gradually disappear into the darkness.

He ripped off the disguise mask from his face, revealing a mature and handsome face with deep, unfathomable eyes.

He took his phone out of his pocket, turned on the camera, and looked at his face. After finding that he wasn't seriously injured, he looked at the half of his hair that had been burned, and his expression turned rather grim.

"That brat really went all out." The man muttered to himself, stroking his hair. "I should have punched him a couple more times." After saying that, he turned off the camera and made a phone call.

"Boss, the mission failed." He said calmly and slowly after the call connected, his magnetic voice very masculine, completely different from the gloomy tone he had used in the woods earlier.

"What? Even you failed?" came a surprised voice from the other end of the phone.

"Someone is protecting them in secret," the man replied briefly.

There was silence on the other end of the phone. The man wasn't in a hurry and just stood there quietly waiting, letting the evening breeze gently blow on his face.

After a long while, a voice came from the other end of the phone: "I understand. It seems it's time to make a choice." Then the call ended.

The man put away his phone and continued staring at the endless blackness. A glint of light had appeared in his eyes, and he murmured, "Is it finally about to begin?"

Han Kexin had Yang Yutong turn around in front of her, then nodded in satisfaction and said, "Not bad, this outfit suits you very well, it makes you look very energetic."

"As expected, Sister Kexin has excellent taste," Guo Shiyi praised from the side.

Looking at Yang Yutong's happy smile, Qin Xiaochuan couldn't help but feel a little emotional.

When they first met half a month ago, she was a timid and unremarkable ordinary girl. Now, wearing the new dress that Han Kexin bought for her, she looks radiant and full of energy. It seems that Han Kexin has put in a lot of effort to change her during this time.

"It seems you put a lot of thought into this dress." Qin Xiaochuan couldn't help but give Han Kexin a thumbs up.

"That's right. Unlike some people who are heartless, even though we're so good to them, they don't even know to buy us a gift," Han Kexin said without turning her head.

Qin Xiaochuan broke out in a cold sweat, never expecting this woman to be so vengeful.

After showing off her new dress, Yang Yutong went to the kitchen to serve everyone fruit.

Han Kexin glanced at Qin Xiaochuan, noticing his embarrassed expression, and a smug look flashed in her eyes. She pretended to be nonchalant and said, "According to you, this person's strength is probably even above ours. If we don't find out his background soon, he's like a time bomb, threatening your safety at any time."

Qin Xiaochuan and Guo Shiyi came here today to tell Han Kexin about the attack they suffered that day.

"So what are your plans?" Qin Xiaochuan asked.

"We need to take the initiative. Tomorrow night I plan to sneak into the exhibition hall and see what secrets are hidden in their underground space."

"Then let's go together," Qin Xiaochuan said decisively.

"Take me with you too," Guo Shiyi quickly raised her hand.

"I want to go too! I want to go too!" Xiaoying raised her hand in response.

"Do you think this is a trip?" Han Kexin glared at her. "You and Yutong stay home obediently and don't go anywhere."

"No," the little girl protested, pouting.

"Protest denied." Han Kexin's attitude was firm. Knowing that there was no way to change it, the little girl snorted, ran to the sofa, and threw herself heavily on it. Still feeling unsatisfied, she turned her head and saw Feifei watching anime on the side. She said with dissatisfaction, "Guoguo, this is not good. I want to change the channel." She had given Feifei the name "Guoguo," and after so much time, Feifei had happily accepted it.

Feifei turned her head to look at Xiaoying, immediately took the remote control and put it in the little girl's hand, then rubbed her head against her arm.

"Guoguo, you're the best!" Xiaoying said loudly, hugging Feifei.

"The enemy is quite strong, so it's always better to have more people. You two should prepare well in the next couple of days." Han Kexin didn't stop Qin Xiaochuan and Guo Shiyi, and gave them a general overview of the upcoming arrangements.

-----------------

Soothing music played in the bar, an unknown piano piece that reminded him of sitting alone in the yard as a child, looking at the sky. Mo Yu took a sip of his martini and his thoughts drifted into memories.

"We're back." Lia pushed open the heavy wooden door and went in first, followed by Connie and Owen.

"Didn't you go out to play today either?" Liya asked, seeing Xiao Moyu sitting in the yard staring blankly at the sky.

Mo Yu gently shook his head without saying a word.

The three of them lived together in a courtyard house, each with their own room. When Liya went into her room and came out, she had taken off her combat uniform and changed into home clothes.

"What do you want to eat tonight? I'll make it for you." Lia said as she picked up the apron hanging on the wall and tied it around her waist.

"I want to eat braised crucian carp," Irving replied as he came out of another room.

"Get out of here. I wasn't asking you. I was asking Xiao Moyu," Liya said bluntly.

Seeing that Mo Yu did not answer, she walked over, tilted her head to look at the other person, and said gently, "We completed a mission today and received a lot of reward. We are going to celebrate properly. Just tell me what you want to eat, and I'll let you taste my cooking."

Mo Yu looked at her serious face, clearly expectant, while Owen, standing behind her, kept winking at him.

"Braised crucian carp..." the boy replied softly.

"Yay!" Owen exclaimed happily.

"Okay." Lia smiled and agreed to Mo Yu, then immediately turned around and her face fell. "Owen, go buy the groceries."

"Yes, ma'am!" Owen completely ignored the other party's rapid change in attitude, walked up to Mo Yu, and asked, "We've been here all day, would you like to go out for a walk with me?"

Before Mo Yu could speak, he grabbed her and pulled her up. "Let's go."

It was late autumn evening, and several cicadas were chirping in the trees. Countless dragonflies were flying around in the air. The setting sun shone on the two people, casting two shadows, one long and one short.

Owen, with a twig dangling from his mouth, walked ahead with a nonchalant air, while Mo Yu silently followed behind.

"Why don't you go out and play with other kids?" Owen asked casually, but all he got in return was the sound of heavy footsteps.

Irving, clearly used to his personality, didn't take it to heart and continued, "Are you homesick? Do you find it hard to fit in with them?"

"Actually, when I was a child, I was just like you. I didn't like interacting with other people because I felt out of place with them. So my favorite thing to do every day was to stare at the ants on the ground."

"But being alone for a long time can be very lonely. This loneliness can slowly devour your soul and make you unable to find your true self. So no matter how difficult it is, I will try my best to play with them so that I won't feel scared when the sun goes down every night, and I won't feel like I'm actually homeless."

"Home is a place where there are always people by your side, where you always care about each other. How about we become your family?"

Owen suddenly turned around and squatted down, looking intently at Mo Yu, who was only focused on walking forward and almost bumped into him.

"How silly of me, how could a child understand these words?" He couldn't help but laugh, then said, "I'll show you something good."

Mo Yu stared blankly at the other person, only to see Owen pull out a small bamboo bird from his pocket.

The little bird was so lifelike, with wings, claws, and eyes; if you didn't look closely, you couldn't tell the difference from the real thing.

Mo Yu stared at the bamboo bird with curiosity, her eyes barely blinking.

"How was it? Fun, right? But that's nothing yet, watch this." Owen placed the bamboo bird in his hand and activated his spiritual power. The bamboo bird then flapped its wings and flew into the air. It circled Mo Yu once and finally landed on his shoulder.

Mo Yu then turned his head to look at his shoulder.

"Take it, it's for you," Owen said, looking into his eyes.

So Mo Yu reached out and picked up the bamboo bird, fiddling with it as if trying to make it fly again.

"Only my skills can make it fly," Owen explained, standing up. "If you want to learn later, I can teach you."

Mo Yu nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.

"Let's go to the market together." Owen extended a hand to Mo Yu, who naturally took it.
