Chapter 66 Credit Trading, Let's Go!
Chapter 66 Credit Trading, Let's Go!
Inside the school library.
After handing over the borrowed magic books and the copying task, Dorothy used her credits to purchase "Watercraft," "Elemental Housecraft," and "Astrology."
I completed two copying tasks and earned 2 credits. I also attended classes, especially Leonce's Magic Craft class, which gave me quite a few credits. That's enough to buy three magic books and still have some left over.
I had previously copied the magic book "The Creation Bread".
The magic inside allows the caster to create a loaf of bread based on the surrounding elements.
Dorothy also tried it, and it tasted terrible, but it could make you feel full, so she thought it was an essential magic for going on adventures.
The two spells I've chosen are the same; the Water Creation spell means that when you're in the wild, you don't have to worry about getting sick from drinking raw water.
The Elemental House-Building Technique can generate simple dwellings such as wooden houses and earthen houses based on the different elements used.
As for astrology, it's for the purpose of knowing your exact location and finding someone in a critical moment.
The communication ring Leon gave her was indeed very good, and Dorothy also believed in the Archmage's ability to create it.
But she still needs to prepare some backup options for herself in case the worst happens.
After purchasing the spellbook, you will have two credits left, enough to choose either a low-level spellbook or ordinary magical equipment.
However, Dorothy did not make that choice. She left the library, walked around the neighborhood, and chose a bench on the street to rest.
He sat on the bench, took off his hat and placed it on his knees, removed the badge that symbolized his status as a senior apprentice from his clothes and placed it in his palm, closed his eyes slightly, and rested.
Dorothy didn't have to wait long. A boy with a few freckles on his face walked over.
The other person glanced at the apprentice badge in Dorothy's hand.
"Hi, beautiful lady, would you be willing to share your magic and wisdom with me?"
As he spoke, the boy pointed to the badge on his chest: Senior Apprentice.
Dorothy slowly opened her eyes, a smile on her face.
"Of course, sir."
Upon hearing this, the freckled boy asked, "How many credits?"
Dorothy held up two fingers.
The boy continued, "Okay, 130 gold coins. I need a copy of 'A Beginner's Guide to Fire Element'."
Dorothy stood up and walked toward the library.
"Deal, let's go."
The boy quickly followed.
Two credits wouldn't immediately boost Dorothy's abilities.
So she chose to sell it directly and exchange it for gold coins to use for her future travel expenses.
Dorothy and the boy entered the library together. After obtaining the magic book, the boy readily traded his gold coins for it.
"It was a pleasure working with you. Goodbye."
The boy, holding the magic book in his arms, politely greeted them and left.
Judging from the magic book he chose, the boy had hit a bottleneck in his mastery of fire magic and was seeking a breakthrough.
Perhaps the next time we meet, the other party will be a novice mage.
However, this has nothing to do with Dorothy anymore.
Dorothy put the bag full of gold coins into the storage space and reached for the ring on her chest.
As the magic flowed in, Dorothy saw the directions of the other rings in her mind.
"Huh? There are four rings clustered together over here, moving away. That must be Kane. There are two more rings over there in the shopping district. That should be Elor and the others."
So Dorothy continued to infuse magic, trying to contact Elor.
"Feed? Dorothy?" Elor's voice came from the ring.
Dorothy walked toward the shopping street and asked softly, "Where are you now? I'm all done here."
"We'll be waiting for you at the Green-Eyed Magic Shop."
……
After the three successfully met up on the commercial street, they headed towards the market.
They need to buy two camels and a carriage.
After all, once you go out, you can't walk such a long distance on foot the whole time.
Moreover, camel-like beasts are very cheap; you can usually buy one for just two gold coins.
It's fast, durable, and can even be slaughtered for meat when needed, making it a very cost-effective mode of transportation.
After everything was prepared, the three of them quickly left the city.
Having just left the City of Apprentices, Dorothy immediately contacted Kane.
"..."
As magic was channeled into the ring, there was a moment of silence, followed by a young male voice coming from the ring.
"Who?"
The owner of the voice sounded very wary.
Dorothy spoke in a surprisingly mature yet youthful voice, "Hello Mr. Kane, I'm from another team arranged by Professor Leon. Our mission is to assist you with your investigation. Shall we arrange a meeting place?"
"..."
There was another long silence on the other end.
"That voice... I remember you. You're another senior apprentice I met in the library that day, right? There's no need to meet again. Let's just go our separate ways."
After saying that, Kane unilaterally ended the conversation.
Dorothy sat in the carriage, looked up, and found that Elor and Lyons were both looking back at her.
Dorothy shrugged and said helplessly, "They really don't want to meet us. How cold-hearted of them."
Leonce shook her head slightly.
"There's no other way. After all, Mr. Kane just went through something like that, and it's better not to meet him so as not to expose our basic lineup."
Elor's tone was full of curiosity. "That's a real pity. I was actually quite interested in meeting Mr. Kane."
Dorothy tilted her head slightly, looking at Elor. "What, are you trying to see if he's handsome? Don't get distracted, just focus on driving!"
Elor raised the riding crop in his hand. "Don't worry, the camel is very smart and won't overturn."
"Also, I didn't say I wanted to see if Kane was handsome or not. I just wanted to know what kind of legend a person is who was framed, murdered his teaching assistant, and then killed in an explosion but managed to escape and survive."
Then Elor narrowed her eyes and looked sharply at Dorothy.
"But you, Kane seems to remember you. Have you met before? When?"
Elor's tone changed, and she began to question Dorothy.
Leonce blinked and looked at Dorothy with a gossipy expression.
Dorothy's eyelids twitched; she hadn't expected Elor to turn the tables on her.
"On the day of the magic assessment, Kane was the first to become an advanced apprentice, and I was the second. We met at the library afterward. He was holding several books and accepting advanced apprentice tasks, while I was still choosing. I let him cut in line, that's all."
Dorothy spread her hands and calmly recounted how she met Kane.
After Dorothy finished speaking, Elor's serious expression visibly relaxed.
"Oh, I see."
"You've only met him once?"
Elor blinked and continued to ask, but her tone was much lighter now.
Dorothy nodded.
"That's right, that's exactly it."
After confirming the details, Elor turned around with a smile and continued driving.
Leona then propped herself up with her hands and moved back a little.
"Dorothy, how's your magic going? Are you confident you can pass the formal magician exam?"
In Leons's memory, Dorothy was a magical genius, and since so much time had passed since she returned from the Sedimentary Swamp, her magic should have improved a lot.
"Uh..." Dorothy really wanted to say that apart from Fireball, all her other spells were still at a beginner level.
