Chapter 30 Chicken Soup
Chapter 30 Chicken Soup
Zhang Ping got into bed and felt Qian Yue'e's body was as warm as a heater in winter; that familiar scent enveloped him completely.
It instantly dispelled his fatigue and temporarily put aside the things on his mind.
He turned to the side, looked at Qian Yue'e's face, which was hazy in the moonlight, and said softly.
"What, do you need to be taught a lesson so badly?"
Qian Yue'e didn't speak, but the hand she reached out and wrapped around his neck was the best answer.
Moonlight shone through the paper windows, illuminating the room in a dim light.
The shadows on the wall overlapped, making it impossible to distinguish one from the other.
Not long after.
Zhang Ping realized he was at a disadvantage.
Under the moonlight, Qian Yue'e's shadow was steadily cast on the wall.
When Zhang Ping opened his eyes, it was already broad daylight.
He turned over and felt that there was someone else next to him.
Qian Yue'e is still alive.
That's not very common.
She usually comes and leaves before dawn, but today she slept until late morning. It seems she was really tired last night.
He didn't rush to get up.
The afterglow of last night still lingered in her body, and a lazy, comfortable feeling permeated her limbs.
Zhang Ping lay there, staring blankly at the roof beams above him for about half an incense stick's time.
Qian Yue'e slowly opened her eyes.
Her eyelids twitched, and her eyelashes fluttered twice, as if she was reluctant to stay in bed.
Then her eyes finally opened. She first looked at the bright daylight outside the window, then turned her head and saw Zhang Ping looking at her sideways, his gaze carrying an indescribable meaning.
She gave a soft hum.
"If you're this good next time, I won't come."
The sound was husky, with the sticky feeling unique to someone who has just woken up.
He said he wouldn't come, but he didn't move. His hand under the blanket was still on Zhang Ping's waist, showing no intention of moving it away.
Looking at her, Zhang Ping's lips slowly curled up. "If you're willing to leave, you don't have to come."
He patted her butt as he spoke.
Qian Yue'e gave a soft snort, then got up and began looking for her clothes.
Bending over to reach the thin shirt at the foot of the bed, the smooth curve of her back resembled a gentle wave in the morning light.
As Zhang Ping looked at her, he reached out and hugged her tightly.
Caught off guard, Qian Yue'e was pulled into his arms, her back pressed against his chest.
"What are you doing?" Qian Yue'e snorted.
"Then why don't you stay?"
Zhang Ping whispered in her ear, his voice low and laced with a mischievous grin, "Anyway, we haven't had enough yet."
The warm breath sprayed onto her earlobe, and the tips of Qian Yue'e's ears turned red instantly.
She struggled for a moment but couldn't move him. She reached out and tapped Zhang Ping's forehead, lightly scolding, "Dream on."
Zhang Ping chuckled and released his grip. He knew it was time to get up; if he lingered any longer, he wouldn't be on duty today, and Heng Ziyang would likely be looking for him.
"You didn't drink chicken soup last night," Qian Yue'e suddenly said.
Zhang Ping paused for a moment and looked at the bamboo basket on the table.
It's cold.
"Reheat it when you get home tonight and drink it."
Qian Yue'e glanced at him but didn't say anything.
She walked to the table, covered the chicken soup, and neatly arranged the bowl and spoon beside it before turning and heading towards the door.
Zhang Ping followed behind her, and the two of them went out of the house one after the other.
The sunlight in the yard was much brighter than inside the house, and it felt warm and cozy on my skin.
Zhang Ping walked to the courtyard gate and reached out to pull the latch.
The latch was pulled off, and the courtyard gate was pushed out.
There were two people standing at the door.
A young girl, carrying a bamboo basket in her hand.
That's Liu Lincui; she looks much healthier.
Zhou Zheng was standing behind her.
Upon seeing Zhang Ping, Zhou Zheng immediately grinned and said, "Boss, Miss Liu was a little worried about your health, so she specially made chicken soup and brought it over for you."
However, with a slight glance, he saw Qian Yue'e in the courtyard.
Of course, Liu Lincui also saw it. She was slightly taken aback, but her face was filled with a gentle smile.
"Officer Zhang."
Her voice was soft, yet tinged with a hint of nervousness, "This was just stewed this morning, it's still warm."
I made chicken soup this morning; I wonder how early Liu Lincui got up.
Zhang Ping accepted it without hesitation. "Thank you, Miss Liu."
"Officer Zhang."
At this moment, Qian Yue'e, who was behind him, spoke up.
"I will send the clothes you made to you in a couple of days."
After saying this, she nodded to Liu Lincui and Zhou Zheng at the door as a greeting, and then disappeared into the alley.
Looking at her retreating figure, Zhang Ping couldn't help but think that Qian Yue'e was quite perceptive, or rather, had high emotional intelligence.
There were two people standing at the door, clearly there to see Zhang Ping.
As a woman who has spent the night here, her continued standing there would only make everyone uncomfortable.
Saying "make clothes" gave him a way out and also saved face.
She's there to take measurements and make clothes, not for anything else.
Whether others believe it or not is their business.
Zhang Ping withdrew his gaze, stepped aside to clear the doorway, and said to Liu Lincui, "Miss Liu, please come in and sit down."
Liu Lincui hesitated for a moment, but still stepped in.
Zhou Zheng followed behind, rambling on, "Boss, last night I noticed you weren't at the yamen, and I even went to your house, but no one was there either. Where did you go?"
Zhang Ping casually said, "I had some personal business to attend to last night, so I went out for a bit."
Seeing Liu Lincui's somewhat timid appearance, he took the initiative to speak, "Miss Liu, have your injuries fully recovered?"
Liu Lincui nodded gently, "Much better, thank you for your concern, Officer Zhang."
Actually, Liu Lincui's physical injuries weren't serious; she was just feeling down. But she believed that time would heal everything.
Once inside the courtyard, the three sat at a stone table. Liu Lincui took the earthenware pot out of the bamboo basket and placed it on the table. She then took out a small bowl and a spoon and arranged them in front of Zhang Ping.
The lid of the earthenware pot hadn't been opened yet, but the aroma of chicken soup was already wafting out through the pot.
Then Liu Lincui poured a bowl of soup, held it with both hands, and handed it to Zhang Ping, saying, "Officer Zhang, please drink this."
Zhang Ping took it, glanced at his room, and immediately drank it down in one gulp.
At the same time, he was also thinking that ancient women were truly gentle and graceful.
And her case.
Hei Sha and Li Changyun have both been killed by him.
In a way, the case is now closed.
He then asked softly, "What are Miss Liu's plans for the future?"
Upon hearing this, Liu Lincui looked at Zhang Ping with a hint of confusion in her eyes.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Zhang Ping suggested, "If you want to go back to your hometown, I can have Zhou Zheng take you back. It'll be safer with him looking after you on the way."
This was the most appropriate arrangement he could think of. Liu Lincui had no relatives or friends in Fenggu City, and staying alone wasn't a good solution.
Let her go back to her hometown and find a relative to rely on; that would be better than her staying here.
Although Zhou Zheng's cultivation level is not high, he should be able to escort a girl back to her hometown without any major problems if he is careful on the way.
At this moment, Zhou Zheng also nodded.
But before Zhang Ping could finish speaking...
Liu Lincui then knelt down straight down from the stool.
