Chapter 227 Recruiting Assistants
After seeing off the managers of the three chambers of commerce, and looking at the workshop that was gradually being filled with various potion-making equipment, Li Ang felt a real sense of satisfaction.
This was no longer a borrowed facility from his mentor, or a temporarily requisitioned workshop in the dwarven palace, but a space that belonged entirely to him, which he could arrange and use as he pleased.
"Nelson, Rodney,"
After making initial upgrades to the largest crucible and its matching magic furnace, Li Ang turned to the two men who had been following him and instructed them, "You two stay here and clean up the workshop. I have some things to take care of."
"Yes, sir!" Nelson responded immediately, the blond boy's eyes shining with excitement. It was a great honor for him to participate in the construction of the sir's workshop.
Rodney nodded obediently and rolled up her sleeves, ready to start cleaning.
Leon left the workshop and headed towards the public area on the first floor of the Leyton Tower. Passing through the familiar corridor, he arrived at the task board shared by the three factions and covered with various parchments.
The task bar was still packed with long queues, so Li Ang walked to the back of the line and joined the queue.
Soon it was Li Ang's turn. He took out a piece of parchment he had prepared beforehand and handed it to the administrator. The recruitment requirements were written on it:
[Recruitment: Potions Workshop Assistant]
[Requirements: Solid foundation in potion-making material processing; patience and meticulousness; adherence to procedures. Prior experience in potion-making is preferred.]
Job Responsibilities: Assisting in the pretreatment, sorting, storage, and some basic refining steps of raw materials for specific pharmaceutical preparations.
The administrator took the parchment, confirmed its contents, and respectfully pasted it in the most conspicuous place on the taskbar.
After doing all that, he didn't linger and turned to walk towards the apprentice dormitory area.
The first person he was looking for was Lottie.
She gently knocked on the familiar door, and it was quickly opened. When Lottie saw Li Ang outside, she was stunned for a moment, and then a surprised smile bloomed on her face.
"Mr. Li Ang? What brings you here? Please come in."
The room was still spotless, with a faint herbal fragrance in the air. Li Ang sat down at the table and stated his purpose directly: "Lottie, I have established my own potion workshop, mainly to refine a new type of potion that I have developed."
We currently need reliable help to process the initial materials. I remember your potion-making fundamentals are very solid, and you're meticulous and attentive in your work. Would you be willing to help? The reward is five silver coins per day.
"Five silver coins a day?" Lottie covered her mouth, her light blue eyes widening slightly in surprise.
Although she is now an apprentice wizard, her monthly allowance is only one silver coin, five silver coins a day, which adds up to one hundred and fifty silver coins a month! This is a high salary that many formal wizards can hardly achieve.
The overwhelming surprise left her momentarily speechless, but quickly she nodded firmly, her voice filled with gratitude and determination: "I do! Mr. Li Ang, thank you for giving me this opportunity. I will definitely do my best!"
Li Ang smiled: "Why thank me? I value your abilities. Tomorrow morning, go directly to the workshop on the east side of the mausoleum area behind the tower to report for duty. If you can't find it, ask the tower keeper."
"Yes, Mr. Li Ang, I've got it!"
Leaving Lottie's room, Leon's next target was Harris.
This colleague, with whom I had previously worked in the potions research group, may not be the most talented, but he is hardworking and has a solid foundation.
When Li Ang found Harris, she was lying in bed reading a thick book called "Identification and Neutralization of Common Toxins." Upon hearing Li Ang's purpose and the treatment he was given, she almost jumped out of bed.
"Five silver coins a day? Wizard Leon, you—you're not kidding, are you?" She pushed up her glasses, her face full of disbelief.
"Of course I'm not joking," Li Ang said firmly. "The workshop is just starting out and needs reliable manpower. Would you like to come?"
"Yes, of course I'm willing," Harris nodded hurriedly, his face flushed with excitement.
"I'd be willing to do it even if it were just two silver coins, let alone five. After all, being able to participate in the development of your new drug is a rare learning opportunity."
"Then it's settled. Tomorrow morning, I'll report to the workshop just like Lottie."
With two assistants secured, Li Ang felt a little more at ease. Lottie was meticulous, and Harris was steady; the two working together should be able to handle a significant portion of the groundwork.
Next, Li Ang turned to the potion plantation he was in charge of. He first went to the spot where he had planted the custard apples last time to check on the growth of the seedlings.
In just half a month, with a terrifying 90% increase in growth rate, those custard apple plants that were originally just seedlings have now grown to half a person's height, with lush branches and leaves, and some have even produced small, unripe fruits. It seems that they will be ready for harvest in a while.
After confirming the condition of the custard apple, Li Ang began collecting the other materials needed for the [Targeted Tissue Regeneration Agent].
Apart from the first batch of custard apples which were unavailable, Li Ang could obtain all other medicinal herbs from the plantation.
Only after filling all the soft cloth bags he had brought with him did Li Ang return to the workshop with the medicinal herbs.
When I returned to the workshop, it had been cleaned spotlessly.
"Sir, you're back." Nelson wiped the sweat from his brow and pointed to several large boxes piled up in the corner.
"The Chamber of Commerce just delivered another batch of basic glassware and supplies. We've checked them all, and there are no problems."
"Thank you for your hard work." Li Ang nodded and continued making arrangements.
"Then help me sort these herbs by type and put them into the corresponding medicine cabinets. After that, you two go to the potion plantation and collect some more, according to their type. Rodney, you are familiar with the properties of herbs, so you will guide Nelson."
"Yes, sir," the two replied in unison.
After making arrangements for the two people, Li Ang returned to his dormitory. There was not much time left before the deadline he had written on the job posting.
He had just returned to his dormitory when there was a knock on the door.
Upon opening the door, two women and one man stood outside—three strangers dressed in formal wizarding green robes.
Judging from the insignia on their chests, the two women were Karin and Edwin's apprentices, while the man was a second-level wizard of the Astrology school.
"Captain Li Ang, excuse me for disturbing you." The witch with long flaxen hair and a capable demeanor spoke first: "We saw your recruitment notice on the bulletin board. I am Sophie, the hazardous materials manager."
The brown-haired, gentle-faced witch next to her then introduced herself: "I am Lysa, in charge of managing the potions."
