Chapter 130, Mission 1
Chapter 130, Mission 1
Chapter 130, First Mission
The door was pulled open almost instantly, and Maya seemed to have been waiting for a long time, her face beaming with barely suppressed excitement.
"Li Angqing! Is the badge finished?" Her emerald green eyes were fixed on Li Ang's hands.
"Yes, Your Highness, this is yours." Li Ang smiled and handed over her share.
Maya snatched the badge and immediately pinned it solemnly to her chest. Then, picking up the leather inner armor, she patted it hard, making a "thump-thump" sound, her face full of pride and joy: "Great! This princess is finally a formal law enforcement officer! Li Angqing, when are we going to—uh, go on a mission?"
"Soon, Your Highness." Li Ang was amused by her impatient manner. "Remember to wear your inner armor during the mission; it's essential for your survival."
"Don't worry," Maya said, straightening her chest, her badge gleaming in the light. "I, the princess, will be your strongest shield and your sharpest axe."
After delivering the equipment to everyone, Li Ang turned and headed to the supply depot.
When Old Mori saw him from afar, he greeted him with a smile: "Captain Li Ang, you've come at the right time. All the furniture you ordered has arrived and is just waiting for you to inspect it."
"Thank you for your help, Wizard Mori," Leon said with a smile.
"Hey, why are you being so polite with me?" Old Mori waved his hand, then lowered his voice.
"I heard that Professor Diana forced you to sleep with her chubby little boy?"
Li Ang smiled helplessly: "Yes, but it can't be considered forced."
"I've met that kid. He's not a bad person, but he's just too lazy."
Then old Mori patted Li Ang's arm hard.
"Do a good job, Li Ang. We all have high hopes for you. If you really can't handle that lazybones—and you don't dare disobey Diana—just have your mentor step in. The Potions School will always be your strong support."
Li Ang didn't explain further, but simply smiled and replied, "Thank you for your suggestion, Wizard Mori."
After chatting for a few more minutes, under Old Moli's arrangement, several strong and sturdy followers carried tables, chairs, sofas, filing cabinets, and other items, and followed Li Ang in a grand procession to the First Special Operations Group's base.
Along the way, their group attracted a lot of onlookers.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the camp, Li Ang took out the custom-made nameplate from his pocket.
The nameplate is made of dark metal, with a simple double sword pattern outlined in the background, and the words "First Special Operations Group" clearly engraved in the center.
He personally hung the plaque in a prominent position on one side of the gate, took a step back to examine it carefully, and a real sense of belonging and responsibility welled up within him.
"Let's begin the setup." Li Ang turned around and directed his attendants to move the furniture into the room one by one, arranging it neatly according to his pre-planned layout.
The heavy ironwood desk was placed by the window, with a genuine leather sofa in front of it, giving it a rather impressive appearance.
A large table and two long rows of sofas occupied the central area of the room, enough to accommodate all the team members to sit and discuss.
The filing cabinet was placed against the other wall, while the mini heater and kettle/tea set were placed on the matching coffee table in the corner.
The once empty and desolate room instantly became quite presentable and filled with a comfortable atmosphere after these pieces of furniture were placed in it.
After finishing all this and dismissing his attendants, Li Ang finally felt hungry. Looking at the time, he saw that it was already afternoon, so he got up and went to the canteen.
I ordered a simple set meal at the cafeteria, and when I was halfway through eating, the badge on my chest vibrated again, giving me that familiar feeling.
He focused intently on reading the information, his brows gradually furrowing, and his hands unconsciously slowed down as he ate.
The message was issued to all law enforcement teams that had no missions scheduled around 2 PM. It was brief but incredibly somber: At 2 PM, a memorial service will be held at the Watchtower Cemetery for the team members who tragically died in the Storm Mountain operation. All teams without missions during this time must attend.
Li Ang carefully savored these words: the sacrificed comrades, the missing members of the 12th squad, the companions of the 4th and 6th squads who never woke up again—their images flashed through Li Ang's mind, making the food in his mouth seem to lose its taste.
He sighed, quickly finished the rest of his food, then took a deep breath and issued the first official order since the formation of the First Special Operations Group through his badge: "All team members, assemble at the base within half an hour."
After issuing the order, Li Ang got up and left the canteen, returning directly to his post.
He had only been there a short time when he heard hurried and forceful footsteps outside the door.
Sandra Mea, fully armed with a warhammer and shield, was the first to rush in, her emerald eyes sparkling and her face flushed with excitement.
"Li Angqing." She practically jumped in front of Li Ang.
"When do we leave? I'm all ready!"
Seeing her vibrant energy, Li Ang's heavy mood eased slightly, and he smiled and said, "Your Highness, there is indeed a mission this afternoon, but it's not a battle. I'll have to trouble you to change back into your wizard robes later."
When Maya heard that it wasn't a combat mission, a look of disappointment instantly appeared on her face.
The second to arrive was Ludick, who trotted in and, upon seeing Leon and Maya, quickly bowed respectfully: "Good morning, Captain."
Since he didn't know Maya, he simply bowed to her and then stood aside somewhat awkwardly.
Next to arrive was Helena. She glanced around the room and saw that quite a few people had already arrived, so she joked, "Captain, I'm not late, am I?"
After Li Ang greeted her with a smile, indicating he was punctual, Helena curiously looked around the newly decorated base, her eyes shining with delight. "This place looks really nice."
With Helena's arrival, Li Ang checked the time, glanced towards the door, and felt a little uneasy. That young lady—
Fortunately, his worries did not last long.
A few minutes later, Olivia slowly appeared in the doorway. She didn't seem to be fully awake yet; her long red hair was a little messy. She walked in, yawning and rubbing her eyes.
Seeing her appear, Li Ang secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Olivia glanced around the newly renovated base, a hint of surprise flashing in her red, vertical pupils. She then pursed her lips and commented in her sleepy voice, "Hmm—not bad, much better than the shabby houses of the previous squads."
Without any hesitation, she walked to a long sofa, leaned over, and lay down on it.
After lying down, she writhed a few more times, sinking herself into the soft sofa cushions, taking up the entire sofa all by herself.
The remaining three, Maya, Ludick, and Helena, had to sit on another sofa. Fortunately, the sofa was large enough for all five of them to sit together, so it didn't feel crowded.
