Chapter 433 Bombing Washington
Chapter 433 Bombing Washington
Chapter 433 Bombing Washington
Without a word, Hawkeye darted through the opening on the back of the armor. With a click-clack of the mechanical lock closing, an armored version of Hawkeye was born.
Picking up his bow and arrow through his steel armor, Hawkeye tentatively plucked the string twice: "Will I snap it in two if I pull the bowstring?"
"Have you gone mad from playing with bows and arrows? You already have an Iron Man suit," Black Widow stepped forward and rolled her eyes at Legolas, "Why do you still insist on drawing a bow and shooting arrows?"
The weapon systems in Tony Stark's suits are probably enough to completely overhaul the S.H.I.E.L.D. Trisolaris headquarters from top to bottom.
The first thing she did after putting on the battle suit was to bring up the weapon wheel in the suit's system: "Ha, just as I expected."
Each member of the Avengers wears an Iron Man suit, along with the heavy firepower it contains, making them truly armed to the teeth.
Tony was now acting like a competent arms dealer, introducing his "labor of love" to each of his clients, but his focus wasn't on lethality: "The suit has a built-in breathing and circulation system, and its kinetic energy buffering and heat recovery systems are far superior to those primitive people at Hammer Technology. Its airtightness should be enough to protect you in the vacuum of space."
After listing all those fancy features of the Iron Man suit, Tony's main point is simply this: "So these systems should be enough to ensure you don't get the virus through breathing, and, most importantly, whatever you do, whatever you do, whatever you do, don't get bitten!"
While it's unknown whether these Nazi remnants would experience physical enhancements after being infected with the zombie virus, S.H.I.E.L.D. might possess strange weapons capable of penetrating Iron Man suits.
If the main body is exposed outside the Iron Man suit and gets bitten, there will be one more enemy to deal with.
"Then we—" Luke Cage, who had just been dragged from his bed by Superman, had barely raised his hand when Tony pointed with his left hand, and another Iron Man suit beside him began to change its style to match Luke Cage's black skin: "Don't rush, everyone has one. You're that suit! And you—"
"No need." The sandman's skin began to crack, and his entire body turned into a pile of moving sand.
Unlike the others, Sandman no longer had any flesh and blood: "Those zombies shouldn't be interested in a pile of sand."
"Then let's set off immediately. I will make arrangements during the flight."
Captain America nodded, then leaped up, donned the Iron Man suit, and transformed into a true Iron Patriot.
He initially wanted to decline, as the Iron Man suit didn't quite suit his fighting style. However, circumstances forced him to comply. With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s main functions paralyzed, without the suit, was he supposed to take the subway to Washington?
Moreover, they are not dealing with ordinary enemies, but zombies whose mechanisms are still unclear.
"Have a safe trip, Captain!"
After watching the group leave, Tony didn't forget to leave a particularly nasty message on their communications channel: "Ready to bomb Washington?"
This made Luke Cage feel strange—
"What do you mean by bombing Washington? We're supposed to just be stopping those damn Nazis, right?"
Why don't they just fly over and deal with those damned Hydras, and stop the whole plan?
"What if those big shots in the White House don't want to hear it?" With the vibranium shield containing all the elements of the Stars and Stripes mounted behind him, Captain America was torn. "Have you even considered what we should do?"
Captain America disagrees with many of Tony Stark's actions, but perhaps Stark's casual remark about "bombing Washington" is the ultimate solution to the problem.
Having been awake for some time now and somewhat adept at using the internet, Captain America, based on his observations at S.H.I.E.L.D. and in his daily life, finds his own country extremely disappointing.
In a system riddled with flaws, one of the most prominent problems is that most of the high-ranking officials at the top today lack human sensibility and are difficult to persuade with words alone.
Moreover, the current situation, where we are all intertwined and it's difficult to distinguish friend from foe, is fertile ground for Hydra to operate.
Captain America and his ilk, a group of people with diverse backgrounds, used to claim to be "loyal and virtuous ministers." Now they're demanding an immediate halt to the multi-billion dollar Insight Project. Will the bigwigs in Washington believe them?
At that point, there's a high probability that some special measures will be needed to stop it all.
After a long pause, Captain America finally mustered the courage to ask, "Are you ready?"
"I made some mistakes in the past, but I have now reformed and am no longer a criminal, but an honest construction worker."
The Sandman, now a pile of flying sand and flying with the wind, spoke with a somewhat muffled voice. Captain America thought the Sandman was about to back down, but what he said next caught him completely off guard: "So, going to Washington and causing a huge ruckus—I'm fucking ready!"
The Sandman still remembers how he embarked on the path of crime, and how he accidentally entered the experimental site and was turned into what he is now.
Without Superman's help, he would have spent his life robbing banks and using dirty money to treat his daughter's illness, not to mention that such behavior would definitely drag himself and his family into an even bigger vortex.
"Haha." Black Widow chuckled lightly; she and Hawkeye had been holding back their laughter for quite some time. "Times have changed, Steve."
They had been silent because they were afraid that the captain himself was not prepared.
For these people living in the twilight of the golden age, there's no need for any ideological work when it comes to going against the White House and H.I.E.L.D.; everyone is eager to try.
"Captain, do you mean that besides S.H.I.E.L.D., some of the members in the White House might also be Hydra?"
Now that he'd figured it out, Luke Cage was even more excited than before: "You guys think that blond Grand Commander who's always messing around with racial knights might actually be Hydra? If so, can I throw the first punch at him?"
As a person of color, Luke Cage harbors deep resentment towards the president. If such an opportunity arises, he will definitely seize it!
"---Well, of course, but only if he really is one."
The thought of this made Captain America feel a bit ironic. "Bombing Washington"—what an absurd thing.
What even the German army couldn't do in World War II, they might be able to do today, dressed in steel armor.
As they spoke, the group approached Washington, D.C., and an F-22 pulled up beside them, swaying its wings to show the group the munitions mounted under its fuselage: "This is the North American Air Force. You have entered the D.C. Air Defense Identification Zone. State your identities."
This is a gesture by which the fighter jet displays its threat, essentially the same as meeting with two people, one of whom draws a sword halfway.
"I am Team America—"
Captain America was about to reply to the message, but before he could finish speaking, the built-in AI of his Iron Man suit sounded an alarm.
The close-range point defense system was activated, and the decoy beacons it sprayed scattered and ignited the concealed warheads traveling through the clouds.
Captain America, who had been ambushed, finally understood that these people had no intention of communicating at all!
